Models for "Utsurohi" Sculpture by Aiko Miyawaki (1929- )
The models were created for Aiko Miyawaki's installation for MA-Espace/Temps au Japon exhibition for Festival d'Automne à Paris at Musée des Arts Décoratifs in 1978. The movement of curved wire and rippling surface visualize the the Japanese concept of "utsurohi" -"swift change," or "transience." As an internationally established artist, Miyawaki held a numerous shows in Paris, New York and Japan. The sculpture is accompanied by a brochure from Staempfli Gallery, New York where she had her one-man show in 1986.
